Why Replacing a Missing Tooth Matters

Many patients underestimate the consequences of leaving a gap untreated. A missing tooth sets off a chain of events that can significantly affect your oral health over time:

Shifting Teeth

Neighboring teeth naturally drift toward the gap, leading to misalignment, bite problems, and increased difficulty cleaning between teeth.

Bone Loss

The jawbone beneath a missing tooth begins to resorb — or shrink — without the stimulation of a tooth root. Over time this can alter your facial structure and complicate future restorative options.

Chewing Difficulty

A gap in your bite forces other teeth to compensate, placing uneven stress on your remaining teeth and jaw joints.

Speech Changes

Missing teeth, particularly in the front of the mouth, can affect pronunciation and clarity of speech.

Self-Confidence

A visible gap in your smile can affect how you feel about yourself in social and professional situations.

The Dental Bridge Process at Evergreen Dental

    Initial Consultation & Evaluation

We begin with a comprehensive exam including digital X-rays and, where appropriate, CBCT 3D imaging to fully assess the gap, the health of the adjacent teeth, and the condition of the underlying bone. We’ll discuss all available tooth replacement options — including bridges and implants — and help you determine which solution is best suited to your needs, goals, and budget.

    Tooth Preparation

For a traditional bridge, the abutment teeth on either side of the gap are gently shaped to accommodate the crowns that will support the bridge. Local anesthesia ensures you are completely comfortable throughout this process. Precise digital impressions are taken of your prepared teeth and the surrounding area.

    Temporary Bridge

While your permanent bridge is being fabricated, we place a temporary bridge to protect the prepared teeth and maintain your appearance and function.

    Permanent Bridge Placement

Once your custom bridge is ready, we remove the temporary bridge, check the fit and appearance of the permanent restoration meticulously, make any necessary adjustments, and cement it permanently in place. We’ll check your bite carefully to ensure everything feels completely natural and comfortable.

    Follow-Up

We’ll schedule a follow-up visit to confirm that everything has settled well and that you’re completely satisfied with your restoration.
